Inger Ellen was introduced to Virsayvia through a friend. As soon as Inger met her she knew she had to help and took action immediately.
Virsaviya "Bathsheba" Borun-Goncharova is almost 6 years old and suffers from thoraco-abdominal syndrome or Pantalogy of Cantrell. She was born with her heart and other organs outside her chest cavity. Her heart can be visibly seen beating with only a thin layer of skin to protect it.
This occurs in less than 1 in a million births. It is even rarer for a child with this condition to live to the age of 6, as Bathsheba has.
She lives in Russia, and several hospitals around the world have turned her down because of the difficulties and risks of surgery. Bathsheba and her mother recently traveled to Boston, but the Children's Hospital there sadly said they cannot operate right now because her aortic blood pressure is too high. Her mother is desperately hoping that medications can bring her blood pressure down enough to operate.
Even when doctors are able to perform the surgery, she may require several very complicated operations, and the medical expenses will be great.
Bathsheba is a very cheerful and talented girl. She loves dolphins, dogs and horses. She attends art and dance school, and likes to paint and make clay sculptures. She is always singing and loves Beyonce.
